Audition for the Nebraska District

Nebraska District Winners:

Thomas Gunther, baritone
Alyssa Nance, soprano
Patrick O'Halloran, tenor

Thomas GuntherThomas Gunther, baritone, hails from Cincinnati, Ohio, where he will perform the role of Slim from Of Mice and Men this year with the University of Cincinnati’s Conservatory of Music. Other roles from the U of C include Figaro from Il barbierie di Siviglia and Le Mari from Mamelles de Tiresias. Mr. Gunther received his Bachelor of Music from Simpson College and his Masters from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Other roles include Marcello from La Boheme while at La Musica Lirica in Italy, as well as Guglielmo from Cosi fan Tutte and Joseph DeRocher from Dead Man Walking with U of N. Mr. Gunther was a Finalist in the MONC Upper Midwest Region in 2007 and won the Neil Artman/Margaret Straub Scholarship Competition at CCM.

Alyssa NanceAlyssa Nance, soprano received her Bachelor of Arts in Voice from Augustana College in South Dakota, and is currently working on her Masters from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music. Ms. Nance will perform the role of Adina from l’Elisir d’amore this year while at the U of MO. Other full opera roles include Night/Spring and Chinese Woman from the Fairy Queen with the Civic Opera of Kansas City, and Fiordiligi from Cosi fan Tutte at U of MO. Ms. Nance is a three-time winner of the Concerto-Aria Competition with the South Dakota Symphony, and has won several awards from the South Dakota Music Teacher’s Association.
Patrick O'HalloranPatrick O’Halloran, tenor, received his Bachelor of Music from the Pittsburg State University and is currently at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln working on his Masters in Vocal Performance. Mr. O’Halloran will perform the role of the Duke of Mantua from Rigoletto this year with University of Nebraska’s Opera theatre. Past solos and roles include Stephen from Mendelssohn’s St. Paul Oratorio with the SEK Symphony, Frederic from Pirates of Penzance with Pittsburg State Opera, and Barrett from Titanic: A New Musical with Theatre in the Park. Mr. O’Halloran has won First Place several times in the NATS competition, and he was awarded a graduate teaching assistanceship at UNL in 2009.
